Learn You a Game Jam Day 6 devlog


Day 6 and everything's still pretty broken but when I work around it, it kinda works. Worst comes to worst, I just remove the part that's broken and either not have it or rework it.

For today, however, I decided to work on the art portion.

I'm not good at it if you couldn't tell from the PLAY button from the previous day, but I sat down for the whole day and just drew like my life depended on it. The entire time I kept imagining the main character as a werewolf so that was the first (and only) thing I drew.


I have 1 portrait and 1 isometric view (and I need 3 more isometric views * walk animation * attack) <- so when I think about all the art I have to do, yeah, let's stick with one character for now. I'll just make the enemies like.. silhouette humans or something. I highly doubt I'll get it all done in time but I'll try anyways.

I do have a job system done, though I haven't quite figured out what jobs a werewolf can do yet - I think I should look into tenderfoot tactics because those are all orcs; I think it'd be cute for a wizard werewolf.

I have leveling and stats down, still no overworld but I'm wondering how I should go about it. In Final Fantasy Tactics, it's all differently coloured dots dependent on safe zones or battle areas, etc, and time-wise, that's probably the easiest way to go about it.

I'm keeping my scope small due to time constraint so it might just be one or two dots.. or an overworld might not even exist.

These devlogs have been getting shorter and shorter because more time is spent on refinement now rather than adding new features and I think that's probably normal. But tomorrow and the day after are busy days for me so I hope I can at least get something done, maybe start tackling music.
